The guide has been an invaluable resource in discerning the contribution and trajectory that the creative industry is taking in Namibia within various disciplines. For the 2021/22 edition, Creative Industry Guide intends to initiate the publishing of a special edition that primarily focuses on the detailed online profiling of the Film & Tech industry in Namibia.
In light of the dire impact of Covid-19 regulations where the entire creative sector suffered greatly; the Creative Industry Guide aims to mobilize and celebrate diverse Namibian creative talent and perseverance by demonstrating the vastness of its resilient creative sector.
The creative industry in Namibia possesses a wealth of talent and valuable expertise. However the industry and its professionals remain scattered and therefore difficult to access. This sectoral fragmentation makes it impossible for talented creatives and their organizations to sustain themselves financially, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Conversely, the unavailability of a platform that houses detailed creative businesses’ profiles/portfolios makes it difficult for local and international cooperation and project opportunities to thrive. This year, we are excited to launch our first ever online creative profiling initiative in addition to the listing, which will avail comprehensive up-to-date information necessary for local/international employers, investors and collaborators alike.
Upscaling numerous start-ups by facilitating their conversion on to online-visible models in order to restore and boost current business activity within the industry. Our mission is to professionalize the industry through adequate representation and imaging; centralize the country’s available skills for online accessibility; and as such, encouraging economic activity and growth.
We invite all Namibian creatives professionals to complete the CIG questionnaire to be part of this national upgrading of the creative industry and join us in formalizing our sector.
